The island of Samsot in Denmark covers an area of 114.26 square kilometers and is home to less than 4,000 residents. However, on such an “unremarkable” small island lies the world’s largest permanent maze. The Samsø Maze(Samsø Labyrinten) on the island was built in 1999 and opened to the public on May 6, 2000. In 2001, the Guinness World Records certified it as the largest maze in the world.

So, just how big is the “largest” certified by Guinness World Records? Check out 👇
🌟 The Sumso Maze covers 60,000 square meters, equivalent to 12 football fields.
🌟 Maze features a 5.5-kilometer trail system and is surrounded by more than 50,000 trees and bushes.
🌟 There are 186 T-junctions in the maze. However, this has also made walking into dead ends or going around in circles a very common thing.

There are a total of seven destinations set in the huge Samso Maze, and the distance between each destination and the starting point is different. These destinations are each hidden behind thick shrubs and forests, awaiting the visit of tourists who are brave, patient and have a good sense of direction.

The way of exploring the maze is also very interesting: People need to walk through the maze by “doing exercises”. To better find the finish line, tourists usually need to use a quiz with several questions: the Stifinder. It is divided into different levels of difficulty and contains various themes, which include but are not limited to: science tests, tourist attractions around the world, classic film and television ips such as “The Lord of the Rings”, “Harry Potter”, and “Game of Thrones”… Everything is available for you to choose from.

By answering the questions in the pathfinder’s guide, tourists are constantly led to the next intersection, thus finding the correct path. Only by answering every question correctly can one have full confidence in reaching the finish line. But IF YOU ANSWER ONE WRONG QUESTION, THERE IS A RISK of getting LOST 🤫

Pathfinder has multiple language versions, including Danish, English, Swedish, Spanish, etc. If you want to return to the starting point halfway through the maze, you can choose the guide provided by the Pathfinder (Hjem-guide), and you can return to the starting point within 15 minutes.

Among the seven destinations of the Samso Maze, the main destination is called the Templet, which is located at the center of the maze. The round trip is approximately between 2.5 and 3 kilometers and takes 1 to 1.5 hours. Other destinations take less time and are shorter in distance. Tourists can freely choose the destinations they want to go to according to their preferences.
When spring comes and flowers bloom, step into this world’s largest maze with your family and pets, pick up a Pathfinder guide that interests you, and immerse yourself in an immersive adventure!
