The Flower Maze is located in the middle of Maple Forest and Flower Sea Scenic Area in Taoyuan, Hunan. There are large flower fields all around it. It is the most eye-catching attraction in the scenic area, shaped like a huge flower. Hedge mazes of this shape are very rare.
The maze covers an area of about 15 mu. It looks like a blooming flower as a whole. There are 7 petal-shaped paths surrounding the central stamen maze area. It is mainly built with Photinia × fraseri and Begonia semperflorens. The Photinia × fraseri grows to 1.3 meters high, forming the edges of the petals. Begonia semperflorens are planted on both sides of the paths. When in bloom, red, pink and white flowers spread on the ground.
Each petal of the maze has a huge tree planted on it. The path around the tree can connect to the stamen maze. The central stamen maze area is circular. Standing on the viewing platform outside, you can clearly see the flower shape of the entire maze.
This maze is suitable for taking photos and playing with children. The paths are not very complicated, so parents can walk along with their children. When the flowers are in bloom, the begonias beside the petals and the surrounding flower sea are connected, which looks very comfortable.
In addition to the maze, the scenic area has large Gesang flower fields and crape myrtle corridors. There are wooden plank roads in the flower fields, leading to various viewing spots. There are food stalls at the entrance of the scenic area, where you can eat Taoyuan rice noodles, wormwood cakes and sugar oil cakes. Walk 5 minutes outside the scenic area, there are farmhouses where you can eat local specialties such as stewed native chicken.
You can drive here. It takes about 40 minutes from Taoyuan county town. The scenic area has a parking lot, costing 10 yuan per day. You can also take the shuttle bus from Taoyuan to Fenglin, then walk 8 minutes after getting off.
The maze opens with the scenic area from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The ticket is included in the scenic area ticket, which is 30 yuan each. Children under 1.2 meters are free.
Flowers bloom best from April to May and September to October. Coming at this time, both the flower shape of the maze and the surrounding flower sea look good. It is recommended to wear flat shoes. It takes more than an hour to walk in the maze, which is very suitable for young people to check in and family tourists to visit.
