Brookfield Maze is such a treasure spot! It’s located in the small town of Myrrhee, in northeastern Victoria, Australia—nestled at the foot of the King Valley gourmet food and wine region. Right next to it is the scenic Fifteen Mile Creek, and you can even catch a great view of Mount Bellevue.
The star here is definitely the traditional hedge maze. It’s made up of over 1,000 Leyland Cypress trees, with tall, neat hedges that are super well-maintained. The whole family can have fun tackling the maze—your goal is to find the viewing platform in the center. Don’t forget to look for the hidden koala figurines as you go, and add up the number clues too. It’s so much fun!
The gardens outside the maze are even more amazing. You can play bocce, giant chess, or checkers—those big chess pieces are set up right under a shaded area. Follow the brick labyrinth path, and you’ll end up at the rock center. If you don’t feel like moving around much, just wandering through the gardens is lovely too—each season brings totally different views. When you’re tired, take a walk along Fifteen Mile Creek. It’s so relaxing.
When you’re worn out, head to the café to rest. It has air conditioning, and you can even order wine there. The lunch menu uses fresh, local, in-season ingredients—so tasty! They also have homemade cakes and desserts that are absolutely delicious. The barista here will make you a perfect espresso, and you can sip it while enjoying the garden views. It’s pure bliss.
This place is also perfect for weddings and events—such a unique setting! If you want to stay a little longer, the Maze Guest House is available. It’s a small, boutique-style self-catering accommodation, hidden away in the big garden. It’s private, and you can enjoy beautiful valley views too.
Brookfield Maze is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Whether you’re bringing the kids for a fun day out or just looking to relax with family, you won’t be disappointed here!
