Santaishan Crape Myrtle Garden sits right south of the Natian Flower Sea in Jiangsu Santaishan National Forest Park. It covers an area of 120 mu and is such a charming spot.

Most crape myrtle trees here are over 200 years old, and the oldest one even has a history of more than 1,000 years. You can find all four main types here too—common crape myrtle, red crape myrtle, silver crape myrtle, and green crape myrtle. Every year from June to September, thousands of these trees burst into bloom. The flowers cluster together in big, lush bunches; it’s really a spectacular sight.

The absolute highlight of the garden has to be the L-shaped hedge maze made of crape myrtles. It’s been carefully designed with these hedges, and its shape is so unique. The maze has several entrances and exits. Once you step inside, it feels like you’ve walked into a mysterious world. Curvy paths wind through the crape myrtle hedges, making you feel like you’re in a huge puzzle. You never know which path will lead you out—all you can do is explore while enjoying the beautiful crape myrtle flowers around you. This kind of experience, full of surprises and little challenges, makes you never want to leave.

Besides the maze, the fuchsia viewing platform in the garden is pretty special too. It’s built on a higher spot in the garden and goes perfectly with the sea of crape myrtle flowers around it. The platform’s color is bright and eye-catching; against the green trees and colorful flowers, it stands out so much. When you climb up to the platform, you can see the whole beauty of Santaishan Crape Myrtle Garden right in front of you. You’ll see vast areas of crape myrtle flowers blooming in the sun—some red like fire, some pink like clouds, some purple like jade. When a light wind blows, the flower branches sway gently, and it’s like a colorful sea of flowers is rippling.

There are other spots in the garden too, like the Crape Myrtle Corridor and the Wishing Pool. When you walk along the corridor, sunlight filters through the gaps between the branches and leaves, casting little patches of light everywhere—it’s so romantic. By the Wishing Pool, you can even make a little wish for yourself. All in all, Santaishan Crape Myrtle Garden, with its unique views and lovely little details, gives you a wonderful treat for both your eyes and your heart. It’s hard not to be amazed by it.
