Get Lost in Fun at Stansted Park Yew Maze

Looking for a fantastic family adventure that blends challenge and joy? Look no further than the Stansted Park Yew Maze. Tucked away in the Lower Walled Garden of Stansted Park, this incredible yew maze has been a beloved attraction since 2011, offering endless fun for both adults craving a mental workout and kids eager to run free and let off steam.

What makes this maze so special? First, it’s all about the yew. The Stansted Park Yew Maze is crafted from over 500 sturdy yew trees, planted back in 2002. Today, many of these trees stand nearly 2 metres tall, forming thick, lush hedges that wind and twist to create a one-kilometre network of paths. Every year, these yew hedges require careful trimming to keep the maze’s shape intact—proof of the dedication that goes into making this attraction unforgettable.

When you visit the Stansted Park Yew Maze, your admission isn’t just for the maze itself. It also includes access to giant outdoor games that the whole family can enjoy. Imagine playing life-sized Jenga, where each block feels like a big adventure, or Connect 4, turning a classic game into a group activity. And if that’s not enough, there are three holes of miniature golf to test your putting skills—all included in your ticket price. It’s a full day of entertainment wrapped up in one great package.

Want to get a bird’s-eye view of the maze’s intricate design? Head to the viewing platform. From here, you can take in the full scope of the yew maze, with its winding paths and green walls stretching out below. The view also extends across the beautiful Walled Gardens, all the way to the impressive Stansted House, making it the perfect spot for a family photo to remember your day.

Planning your trip? The Stansted Park Yew Maze has clear opening times to help you organize. It’s open from 11am to 4pm every weekend, starting from Mothering Sunday weekend (30th March) right through to the end of October 2025. All Bank Holidays within this period are also covered, so you can fit a maze adventure into your long weekends—weather permitting, of course.

During school holidays, the maze may open on weekdays too, but it’s wise to check ahead if the weather looks bad. Give the team a call on 02392 412265 (select option 5) between Monday and Friday to confirm. Admission is just £2.50 per person, and you can pay with cash or card. Tickets are available at the gate, but if you’re planning a private hire or group booking, be sure to contact the office in advance.

A few quick notes to make your visit smooth: the Stansted Park Yew Maze isn’t suitable for large pushchairs or motorised wheelchairs due to the winding paths. Most importantly, all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times to ensure everyone stays safe while having fun.

Whether you’re trying to outsmart the maze’s twists, laughing over a game of giant Jenga, or snapping photos from the viewing platform, the Stansted Park Yew Maze promises a day filled with smiles and memories. It’s more than just a maze—it’s a place where families connect, challenges are conquered, and fun is always the main goal.
