Get Lost in Zhangjiagang’s Spectacular Plant Maze

Liangfeng Ecological Park is located in the eastern suburbs of Zhangjiagang City. It is a comprehensive urban park that integrates leisure, sightseeing, fitness and entertainment, and science education.

It opened on May 1, 2006, with a total area of 1,200 mu (about 80 hectares) and a green space rate of 70%. It is one of the larger ecological parks built in small and medium-sized cities in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou area and even in the whole country. The park has planted 1,430 species of plants and built 12 specialized gardens, including a pine garden, a bamboo garden, and a plum garden.

In the southeast corner of Liangfeng Ecological Park, there is an impressive plant maze. It is made of red-leaf photinia bushes, which have grown very lush over the years and now even tower above people’s heads. These bushes are carefully arranged in loops and turns to form a large maze. Walking inside, it feels like entering a mysterious world. The winding paths can easily make you lose your way. Because the photinia often block the narrow paths, you can often hear people’s voices without seeing them, which adds a sense of fun and surprise.

The southwest corner of the park is the “Children’s Dream Forest.” This area was originally dense with tall trees, making it hard for undergrowth to grow. After renovation, functional zones were created while keeping the existing trees. On both sides of the entrance, artistic fences were installed and clear signs were added. A wooden leisure platform was built to meet the needs of setting up tents and for children to relax. There is also a rainbow made of colorful plastic ground and fun play facilities, which are very popular among children who can spend an entire afternoon playing here.

Besides these special areas, Liangfeng Ecological Park has many other attractions worth visiting, such as Liangfeng Lake, seven stone arch bridges, and a tropical plant garden. Whether you stroll along the walking paths enjoying the natural scenery or play with your children in the amusement area, you can feel the beauty of nature and the comfort of life.
