Laomei Maze is located in Fugueijiao Park in Shimen District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. The park, formerly known as Laomei Park, sits within the Laomei Bay terrain formed by the Fugueijiao Cape and Shimen reef shores.
Laomei Maze is made by connecting red brick walls alternately. These brick walls form curved and complex paths, like a round cake with a corner cut off. The maze is not large and lies on a big lawn. Looking from above, the maze has a mysterious totem-like feel, as if it were a small relic of aliens. Many tourists like to come here to play, wandering through the maze and enjoying the fun.
If you want to take a full view of the maze, you can climb the nearby slope. From the slope, you can see the crisscross and irregular shape of the maze, which is quite spectacular. It is also a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts. They can not only experience the fun of wandering through the maze but also easily pose for some pictures to take beautiful photos.
Fugueijiao Park, where Laomei Maze is located, has its own unique features. The park has well-planned trails. Tourists can walk along the trails to enjoy the unique north coast landscapes, such as wind-eroded rocks and Laomei stone troughs. The trails can also extend to Fugueijiao Lighthouse. Fugueijiao Lighthouse is one of Taiwan’s four extreme points, with a black-and-white octagonal tower. Near the park, there is also Laomei Green Stone Troughs, which was once selected by CNN as one of Taiwan’s eight secret spots. From February to May every year, green algae grow on the stone troughs formed by volcanic reefs, contrasting with the blue sea, creating a very dreamy scene.
