The maze at Altjessnitz Manor Park is very famous. It is located in Germany and was built in the mid-18th century. It is the largest and oldest existing Baroque maze in Germany. This park covers an area of 4 hectares and has beautiful scenery. There is a 12th-century stone church inside and many nice trees are planted around it.
The history of the park can be traced back to the end of the 17th century. In 1694, Baron Hans Adam von Ende bought this place and transformed it into an elegant manor, featuring Baroque-style manor houses and a park. The maze was built between 1730 and 1749, covering an area of approximately 2,600 square meters. The paths in the maze are very narrow, with 2-meter-high cornered hedges on both sides. There is a platform in the center of the maze. Standing on it, you can have a panoramic view of the park. At the entrance of the maze, there is a sculpture of Ceres, who was the Roman goddess of harvest and fertility. This is one of the few Baroque-style sculptures that have survived.
There are many tree species in the park, such as chestnut trees, tulip trees and catalpa trees, as well as small lawns, a pond with a small island and winding paths. There are areas for playing and having picnics here, which is very suitable for family outings.
It should be noted that the park is usually open from April to October. On Wednesdays to Fridays, it is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m. The last entry time each day is 6 p.m. The park is closed in winter.
