Stockeld Park is located near the town of Weatherby in Yorkshire, UK, covering an area of 2,000 acres. It is a family-friendly park that combines historical buildings with natural landscapes. The core attraction in the park, “The Magical Maze”, has become a popular local check-in spot since its opening, thanks to its unique design and rich experiences.

The maze was created by the internationally renowned maze designer Adrian Fisher, with neatly trimmed yew hedges as the main body. The hedges reach a height of 2.4 meters, forming an 8-foot-high green wall. The total length of the winding path exceeds 2 miles, making it the largest evergreen tree maze in Yorkshire. The maze is full of hidden surprises: At each corner, there may be interactive devices, such as Musical Instruments that make sounds when struck or movable obstacles, adding to the fun of exploration. At the center of the maze stands a rotating stainless steel globe sculpture, designed by local female students in a children’s sculpture competition, which has become a landmark target for tourists to look for.

The maze is divided into areas of different difficulties. The route in the children’s area is simple and clear, with colorful signboards and a small viewing platform, making it suitable for young children to experience. The adult area tests the sense of direction through complex forks in the road and hidden puzzles. Some paths require solving the digital clues on the leaves to pass through. Tourists can climb to the castle observation tower beside the maze to overlook the overall situation and assist in judging the route. It usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete the entire maze. During the process, carefully observe the arrow signs on the ground to avoid getting lost.

The supporting facilities in the park are complete. In addition to the maze, there are also high-altitude rope adventures, electric scooter forests, adventure playgrounds and other projects, suitable for visitors of all ages. Seasonal events run throughout the year: a giant egg hunt is held in spring, magic school-themed courses are offered in autumn, and in winter, the maze transformed into the only light maze in Yorkshire is transformed. Thousands of twinkling lights interweave with the snow scenery, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The cafe in the park offers hot drinks and light meals, and the gift shop sells maze-themed souvenirs.

The opening hours of the maze are adjusted with the seasons. The ticket is usually included in the park’s day pass (about £12 for adults and about £8 for children). It takes about 30 minutes by car from Leeds or York to reach the park. There is a free parking lot at the entrance. Whether it’s a family exploring nature with children or friends challenging their intelligence together, the magic mazes in Stockeld Park can offer surprising outdoor experiences.
