Gärten der Welt is in Berlin, Germany. There are two special attractions here: The Maze and The Labyrinth. Each has its own features and is suitable for people who like exploring.

The design of The Maze originated from the Renaissance period. It was modeled after the maze in the garden of Hampton Court, a British royal castle. The maze at Hampton Court is one of the oldest in Europe and has remained almost unchanged for centuries.

This Maze is made up of 1,225 yew trees. These are evergreen trees and are pruned regularly. The hedges are about two meters high. Even tall people cannot see the path on the other side through the hedges.

The Maze covers an area of 2,000 square meters. Its paths are arranged in a regular way. There are two huge granite boulders at the entrance, one on each side. When you reach the center, you can see a lookout tower. Standing on the tower, you can clearly see the entire layout of the Maze. But after that, you still have to find your own way out.

The Labyrinth is connected with many myths. For example, the story of Theseus. He had to go through the Labyrinth to defeat the Minotaur. After completing the task, he found his way out of the Labyrinth with the help of the red thread from Princess Ariadne.

In the Labyrinth of Gärten der Welt, light grey stones mark the route. Following the stones, you can reach the center and then walk out from there.
This Labyrinth has 11 sections of paths and 28 turns. It usually takes about 10 minutes to reach the center. There is no need to worry about getting lost, as the stone markers are very clear.

The two attractions have different ways to play. The Maze requires you to judge directions by yourself and it is easy to take the wrong path. The Labyrinth has clear markers and is more relaxing. Whether you like challenges or prefer a slow walk, you can find something suitable.
You can first try The Maze here to test your sense of direction. Then go to The Labyrinth to experience the design related to myths. The whole process can make people relax and also let them feel different design ideas.
