The Plant Maze at Huiyuan Agricultural Valley is located in Zhongxiang, Hubei. It is next to the Woodland Adventure facility, with a pond, sandpit and swing nearby.
The maze is mainly built with Photinia × fraseri. The trees are about 1.2 meters high, neatly pruned to form path partitions. It consists of two parts. One part is an incomplete circle with a gap at the edge. The other part is a square, connected to the gap of the circle. The ground is paved with gravel, making it non-slip to walk on.
There are many forks in the maze. Paths extend along the outlines of the circle and square, with turns irregularly placed. Every 50 meters or so, there is a small wooden sign with arrows indicating directions. There is a small circular open space in the middle.
This maze is suitable for playing with children. The Photinia × fraseri is not tall, so adults can see where their children are when standing nearby. Sometimes staff at the entrance give out simple maps to visitors.
Besides the maze, the park has other attractions. The nearby Woodland Adventure is a facility built with wood, where people can climb and crawl through. The Water Fun Zone allows feeding and fishing. To the south is the Space Flower House, where you can see various exotic flowers.
For dining, you can go to the Traditional Food Experience Street. There are Hubei specialties like hot dry noodles and fried lotus root clips. You can also go to the Eco-Restaurant to eat freshly picked vegetables.
You can drive here. From downtown Zhongxiang, take S311, and it takes about 30 minutes. The parking lot at the park entrance costs 10 yuan a day. You can also take the park’s direct bus, which departs from Guihechi.
The maze opens with the park. Winter hours: 8:00-17:00, with admission stopping at 16:00. Summer hours: 8:00-17:30, with admission stopping at 16:30. The ticket is 45 yuan per piece. Active-duty soldiers can enter for free with valid documents.
Spring and autumn are good times to visit, with mild weather. It is recommended to wear sports shoes. You need to walk in the maze for over an hour. It is suitable for young people and children to explore.
