The Plant Maze in Maoming Forest Park, Guangdong is one of the most distinctive attractions in the park.
It is a rare plant maze amusement area in China and currently the largest one of its kind in Guangdong Province. It is located in Maoming Forest Park, which sits on Township Road 125, Gongguan Town, Maonan District, Maoming City. The maze is part of the “Fun Garden” within the park.
This plant maze is also called the “Eight Trigrams Plant Maze”. It is developed from the “Nine-Palace Eight Trigrams Formation” created by Zhuge Liang in the Three Kingdoms Period, combined with the Western popular “Magic Castle” concept. It blends Chinese and Western elements and has the features of being “new, unique and ingenious”. The maze is enclosed by short green branches and fences. Inside, there are scattered winding paths, making it like a mysterious world with complicated routes.
Stepping into the maze is like entering a huge puzzle. Paths stretch out in front of you, making it hard to tell east from west. Many visitors rush around inside but always fail to find the exit. They often go in circles. People standing outside the maze usually can’t help laughing when they see those inside running around like headless flies.
However, the maze is not without rules. Some visitors have found a way: walk straight from the entrance. When you meet a fork in the road, turn left first, and then turn right at the last fork. You may find the exit this way. While walking through the maze, people can fully test their intelligence and perseverance. They can enjoy the wonderful feeling of “being stuck in a tight spot one moment and finding a way out the next”. The maze combines knowledge, artistry, fun and entertainment.
