The Reignac Sur Indre Maze is located in the town of Renac in the Indre department in central France. It is the world’s largest annual corn maze, attracting tourists with brand-new patterns every year. The maze was built in 1996 and is now a popular agricultural tourism attraction in France.

Historical background
The maze was founded by local farmer Michelle Braque and was originally designed to promote agricultural innovation. After its first opening in 1996, it quickly became a family travel destination. Corn is sown in April every year, blossoms in July, and the patterns disappear after being harvested in November.

Design and Layout
The total area of the maze is approximately 10 acres (40,000 square meters), and the total length of the path is 6 kilometers. The corn plants are about 3 meters tall, forming a natural barrier. Each year, the theme patterns are planted through satellite technology and GPS positioning to ensure accuracy. The themes cover celebrity portraits, historical scenes or natural patterns, such as the reproduction of French painter Monet’s “Water Lilies” in 2022.

In the center of the maze, there is a 15-meter-high wooden tower. Tourists can climb to the top to observe the route. There are 12 question-and-answer stations on the ground. If you answer correctly, you can unlock the quick passage. At the exit, a panoramic aerial view of the maze from that year is displayed.
Current situation and activities
The opening period is from July 1st to October 31st each year, with an average of about 1,200 visitors per day. The average customs clearance time is 40 minutes, and about 20% of tourists need to use the instruction manual.

The Reignac Sur Indre Maze turns farmland into a dynamic work of art and attracts over 250,000 visitors every year. In 2000, it was certified by Guinness World Records as the “Largest Temporary Maze”, becoming a model for the transformation of French agriculture. Its seasonal reset mode stimulates tourists’ interest in repeated exploration and has now become one of the must-visit attractions in the local area.
