They’ve got giant chess and checkers sets— the pieces are as big as small stools! Stand on the board and move them around; it feels like stepping into a storybook. And there’s a vintage carousel here, built back in 1864. It runs regularly on weekends and holidays—hop on, and it’s like traveling back over a hundred years.
Make sure you take the 1.5-kilometer boardwalk. It goes through the wetlands, with native trees all along the way. Walk slowly: look for bird nests in the trees, listen to frogs croaking, and if you’re lucky, spot waterbirds gliding across the water. There’s a bird-watching spot where you can get a great view of Lake King. When your feet get sore, stop at the lakeside café. Grab a homemade meal, sit on the patio, and take in the wetland views—it’s so nice.
