\n In 107 AD, Roman Empire soldiers first dug salt here. Back then, salt was as precious as gold. Miners used hammers and chisels to carve out salt blocks, shipped across Europe. By the Middle Ages, the mine reached 120 meters deep, with tunnels spreading like spiderwebs.\n<\/p>\n

\n Salt Lake & \u201cMushroom Forest\u201d\u200c: A glowing green lake lies at the deepest level. Row a boat through salt pillars, with stalactite-like salt crystals hanging overhead.\n<\/p>\n

\n Maze-Like Tunnels\u200c: Over 40 kilometers of pathways wind through the mine. Some spots are so narrow you must squeeze sideways. (You could lick the salt walls\u2014but better not!)\n<\/p>\n

\n The most amazing spot is the \u200cRudolf Mine\u200c, a football-field-sized cavern with an underground Ferris wheel. Riding it lets you see a 13-meter-tall \u201csalt waterfall.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
